Italy Solo: A Trip of a Lifetime Through Rome, Florence, Venice & Beyond
As a travel designer, I’ve been lucky enough to explore many corners of the world—but my recent solo adventure through Italy was something truly unforgettable.
In just a week and a half, I experienced ancient wonders, world-class cuisine, charming cities, and breathtaking mountain landscapes. Whether you're traveling with friends, family, or completely on your own, this itinerary will make you fall in love with Italy, just like I did.
Rome: Where History comes alive
Rome at Night
Amazing without all the crowds
No trip to Italy is complete without a visit to Rome. It’s a sprawling city filled with iconic landmarks, rich history, and endless opportunities to explore.
All The Beauty
As someone who doesn't consider myself a history buff or an architecture expert, I was surprised by how impactful my time here was, thanks to the guided tours. I highly recommend booking a guided experience of the Colosseum and Vatican City, hearing the stories behind the ruins, and learning the deeper meaning of what I was seeing, which completely transformed my experience of the city. It gave me such a greater appreciation for everything around me.
Rome is definitely a more “drivable” city due to its size, but it’s worth every turn. One of the highlights? A local food tour. For a small fee, I got to sample authentic Roman dishes, discover hidden gems, and get recommendations on the best spots to return to. For food lovers and first-time visitors alike, this is a must.
Florence: A Solo Traveler’s Dream
Next up was Florence, and let me tell you—this city stole my heart. Smaller, more walkable, and with a younger, more social vibe, Florence felt like the perfect place to explore solo.
I adored wandering through the charming farmers’ markets, visiting artisan shops, and enjoying the laid-back yet vibrant energy. Florence is full of authentic Florentine restaurants that quickly became my favorite for Italian cuisine.
One of the best experiences I had was a tiramisu and cooking class—a fun and delicious way to immerse myself in the culture and connect with other travelers. With so many international students around, Florence felt especially welcoming and social. I could have spent weeks here and never run out of places to explore or people to meet.

Venice: Holiday Serenity & Spa Vibes
From Florence, I took the train to Venice, arriving just in time for the Christmas season. Unlike the summer crowds, Venice in December was calm, quiet, and magical. The cooler weather made it the perfect time to unwind.
I chose to stay at the Hilton Molino Stucky, where I gave myself permission to slow down and enjoy the spa. After nonstop adventure, this was precisely what I needed: a few peaceful days of relaxation, surrounded by Venice’s timeless beauty.
Lake Garda & The Dolamites: Nature’s Grande Finale
After Venice, I picked up a rental car and made the scenic drive to Lake Garda. Words can’t do this place justice. The contrast of the crystal-clear lake with the snow-dusted mountains was something out of a dream.
From here, I took a day trip to the Italian Dolomites to snowboard—a bucket-list moment I’ll never forget. The landscapes, the freedom, the feeling of carving down those legendary slopes... it was a trip of a lifetime in every sense.
Driving in this region was incredibly easy, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking to explore beyond the cities.
WHY THIS TRIP WAS SPECIAL
This journey through Italy had everything: history, culture, food, adventure, and relaxation. Each destination brought its own magic, and as a solo traveler, I felt empowered and inspired throughout.
Whether you're planning a romantic getaway, a family trip, or your solo escape, I’d love to help you create your Italian dream itinerary. From guided tours and cooking classes to spa days and snowboarding adventures, Italy has something for everyone.
Let’s plan your trip of a lifetime—you deserve it.
